As an Associate Producer/Video Editor within the Marketing and Communications department at the UAlbany it was my job to produce high quality promotional videos for the school. This included interviews, press conferences, orientation videos, ceremonies, video holiday cards and more.
From an editing perspective, I think what I learned the most was how to visually tell a story. Working with the team, I helped shoot, edit, and animate the videos embedded below. We used primarily DSLR and HDV cameras and FCPX/AE in post. After the approval process, we uploaded the videos to the UAlbany.tv website as well as the UAlbany YouTube Channel.

UAlbany had a record breaking year of basketball with both the men’s and women’s teams making it to the NCAA tournament. I was tasked to pull together footage to make an exciting highlight reel. I tried experimenting with animation styles by cutting out still images, applied filters that isolated the school’s colors, and moved them in a way that appeared like slow motion.

2012 UAlbany Holiday Card

School of Public Health Costa Rica Trip
Summary
This promo video was edited together for the School of Public Health, and presents the opportunities students may have while studying abroad. The challenge became pulling pieces of “gorilla-style” footage we received from the students, and making it work with some of the B-Roll we shot around the campus.

Admissions Outcomes – Steven Severin

The Admission Outcomes video series required the team to travel across New York to interview Alumni of the university. Back in the editing room, I found ways to piece together B-Roll with “behind-the-scenes” shots.

The Admissions Outcomes video series brought us to Rochester, NY where we setup and shot a quick interview with B-Roll. I then edited the piece together, including photos that were later designed for a school pamphlet.
