Overview

The latest release of the Exorcist franchise explore the psychological demonic possession between a girl and her friend. While it didn’t perform that well at the box office, fans familiar with the IP may have found it a good binge watch at home. I worked with Trailer Park and the Peacock Films team to help Art Direct GFX for bespoke spots that lean into the lore of the original 1973 film.

We used a black and white color palette, which is consistent with the hero key art. In addition to playing with flickering black and white Peacock branding, we explored a demonic twisting effect of the title cards. Horror fans may recognize this as the infamous head spin that terrifyingly brought the franchise to life.

Hero Teaser + Spots

Using the call to action messaging “The Exclusive Streaming Home Of…” the copy slowly turns around, mimicking the slow turn of a possessed individual. With added SFX, this bespoke tease spot helps draw the connection between Peacock and The Exorcist coming to platform.

Although it’s a small detail, we notably reversed the motion the Peacock Top Tag as if it were to fade into the darkness of the scene behind it.

Trailer Park did a nice job constructing the majority of this edit (the Art Director on the team is a big horror fan). I think the unfortunate side of working downstream from a theatrical release is the on-platform release window ends up being closer to the holidays, when this is really more of a Halloween title.
