Overview

The brief for this title essentially presented the idea that “M3GAN is taking over Peacock”. Given her “AI” persona, it felt fitting. M3GAN was already a smash hit before it was released theatrically due to the trending dance scene in the trailer. To push things further, Peacock was offering a “UNRATED” cut of the film – although it primarily included a few extra minutes – closer to an extended cut.

I worked closely with Blackspot and Blumhouse to design internal GFX cards that matched the IP, focusing on the streaming messaging. Similar to the Fast X title, we started to explore ways that the IP could influence the brand by illuminating the Peacock spine in pink. Blackspot then versioned it out across all platforms, with a focus on social, given its trending nature.

Hero Spot + Cutdowns

One of the challenges in the streaming landscape for film (regardless of the campaign) is to entice consumers to watch a movie on platform, after theatrical and home entertainment release (DVD & Blu-ray). Since Peacock is pretty far down the line when it comes to distribution, we try to explore bespoke creative that draws the target audience in. In addition to the “UNRATED” callout, “YOUR KILLER NEW BEST FRIEND” tagline was used across Peacock deliverables exclusively.

Summary

One of the Producer/Editors on the Peacock Films team had some fun crafting an edit around Rockwell’s “Somebody’s Watching Me”. Because it worked well with the IP, we were able to license the track and use it in this cut.
