As Peacock was about to launch a soft rebrand, the multi-title and product marketing teams started to explore new directions that matched the revised design language. With Season 8 of “Love Island” about to launch, this spot was particularly impactful because it generally defined a more abstract approach to how users see the Peacock product in the wild – mobile first.
After doing a fair amount of research, my goal was to think of Peacock as a tech company rather than an entertainment company. Referencing a large number of AI spots, Google, Apple, and various others, I designed and edited this spot – which was primarily motion driven. We wanted to stay away from stock footage (such as smiling users holding phones) and find a way to combine the Love Island IP with the illuminating gradient glow effect that started to take shape as the forefront of the Peacock re-brand.
