SOCIAL TEASE

Breaking “the frame”

The Peacock Performance Marketing team is responsible for promoting new library content coming to platform. Some of these titles include movies or series that live outside the Universal umbrella. The majority of the Performance Marketing deliverables live on social platforms like TikTok, Snapchat, Meta, Reddit, and more.

After doing some thorough research on what’s trending in the social space, I edited down the original film (with audio splits) into this tease for Dunkirk. This involves sound mixing/design, color correction, gfx, versioning, and tweaks based on studio approval. After watching the film in the IMAX aspect ratio, I came to the realization we had a rare opportunity to break-the-mold by literally breaking the frame of each social placement.

After completing the edit in Premiere, I used After Effects to place a matte around the frame and rotoscoped every shot, one clip at a time. The end result created the illusion that the planes, boats, and characters were literally popping out of the screen. While I initially was going to rotoscope a few clips here and there, I decided to complete the full edit. Luckily only two aspect ratios were required! (posted below). The Peacock team was happy to get final sign-off from the Warner Bros., especially since we knew Christopher Nolan is understandably very protective of his IP.
