Coming off of Sony Pictures’ Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, I was thrilled to see that DreamWorks Animation was starting to explore a similar 2D/3D illustrative, low frame rate, textured animation style with their sequel, Puss In Boots: The Last Wish. Additionally, with a great antagonist, kids and adults alike can relate to the trauma Puss must face in the film.
As Puss In Boots was coming to Peacock, there was an enticing opportunity to leverage this style of animation and apply it to various branding elements. I worked closely with DreamWorks Animation, Trailer Park, and Mocean to comp together toolkit assets provided by the studio and design teasers, multiple spots, and social assets that seamlessly intertwined the brand with the IP.

Teaser + Spots
We were fortunate to receive pre-rendered assets from DreamWorks that worked in our favor. For the tease, here you can see Puss imitating Zorro by carving a “P” in cloth. With the help of Mocean, we were able to alter the toolkit so he cuts the Peacock logo “P” monogram. I made sure the little textures on the “P” matched the film (using his boots as a reference). The cherry on top was finding a VO artist who imitated Antonio Banderas and was able to read lines such as “Streaming now only on Peacock!”

With the help of a talented VO impressionist, Puss welcomed you to watch the movie at home (or “su casa”). I worked with Trailer Park to provide rotoscoped Peacock/Puss In Boots assets and end pages and helped version out GFX across all platforms with ICP.
SOCIAL
Puss In Boots on Peacock
These social assets were a lot of fun to put together. We used various toolkit elements, combined with Peacock messaging and created 9×16, 4×5, 1×1, and 16×9 deliverables. I provided all branded GFX and overall art direction – which paired nicely with the music.
