Overview

My great grandmother, Nellie Keller (also known as Grandmama) lived until she was 106 years old. She left behind a legacy and a supportive, loving family. Every 5 years my extended family gets together to celebrate her birthday. Each year someone designs a T-Shirt to commemorate the occasion. The last party we had was her 105th birthday and I was that designer.

I also took on a personal project, which was gifted to my grandmother. It creatively shows all five living generations in one photograph. Grandmama, my grandmother, my mother, my sister, and her son.

T-SHIRT DESIGN

The T-Shirt design is very important to my family. Not only do we order shirts for everyone who attends to wear but we color code them across seven families and take one giant picture. The design was inspired by my great grandmother’s love for gardening and birds. I also wanted to pay homage to the past with an illustrated photo from the roaring 20s.

POSTER DESIGN

I had each person hold a frame with a green screen inside of it. Upon completing final tweaks in Photoshop, this image was later printed on a large canvas and it is now hanging in my Grandmother’s house.
